Flying Solo With Two
by Julie Bhosale

Ah parenting…just when you think you might be getting a handle on this gig….something comes along to remind you that really you don’t have it all figured out! Last week as some of you know I took on flying with both boys on my own. There is a LOT of logistics behind the scenes of our nation wide tour at the moment and for our Wellington leg the most efficient and cost effective way was for hubby...

Pears and Constipation in Babies - Cure or Cause?
by Dr Julie Bhosale

Constipation is very common in babies and toddlers. It is actually one of the primary concerns that parents will go to see a general practitioner or pediatrician about. It is most common in babies around the time of starting solids and for toddlers going through toilet training.
For babies, the change in dietary intake can result in changes in bowel motions, which is why I do have a section on this...

Free Movement for Babies
by Julie Bhosale

At one of my events on the weekend I was asked about the idea of free movement for babies - so I thought it was fitting to write a blog about this! While not a 'new' concept it has become more topical, unfortunately mainly due to babies movement and play being more restricted. It is an important cornerstone of their wellbeing and does impact on their eating, digestive system and energy levels...

Roasted Cauliflower Dip
by Julie Bhosale

I love making vegetable dips...I do not get a lot of time now in the kitchen (especially on my own!) but making a vegetable based dip is something which I can whip up fairly easily and is not too delicate for when I have little helpers. This cauliflower dip is nice and light a fluffy so makes for a good lunch box addition. You can easily adjust the other ingredients or add a bit more extra virgin...

Hello Cracked Black Pepper Oatcakes from Nairns
by Julie Bhosale

As many of you know I am a number one fan of
Nairns Oatcakes. There are not many pre-packaged foods that I give my seal of approval to, however Nairns Oatcakes is one of them. Made with real wholegrain oats and minimal additional ingredients, their oatcakes and oat biscuits provides a easy nutritious snack option – which are also incredibly versatile.

Nairns Oatcakes have just launch a new cracked...

Egg and Spinach Cups (GF, DF)
by Julie Bhosale

This is a ridiculously super simple recipe - literally made with three ingredients which is a great way to explore egg (and leafy greens for the matter) for little ones. Some babies struggle with the texture of egg so this is something a bit different which is grain free and dairy free. You can adapt this to include pretty much any vegetable, and feel free to add some herbs as well.

Ingredients:
10...

Leaving Sahan
by Julie Bhosale

Our littlest guy, Sahan (aka Smushie) is going to be leaving his beautiful daycare very soon. I would keep him attending there until he was 18 if I could. It has been our home away from home for both our boys since – well practically since they were born. The daycare centre caters specifically until three years of age so like our first son, it is soon Smushie’s turn to ‘leave his nest’. Milestones...

Reading Baby Food Labels
by Julie Bhosale

Reading baby food labels - this is a topic I am hugely passionate about as many of you know!
I am really frustrated at the current state of pre-packaged baby food and even more frustrated that we have major health care providers advocating the such food is nutritionally sound for our babies!
So for or my brand new book - The Nourished Baby - I conducted my own research and looked at all the baby food...

Windy Babies and Eliminating Foods
by Julie Bhosale

Windy babies is a very common concern for new parents.
Wind is the the air in your baby's tummy. During feeding your baby may swallow a lot of air along with her milk when they feeds as well as potentially gulping in air when they cry. While all babies can get wind, some will experience this more than others. Your babies gut is very delicate especially in the early new born days as it is very...

PhD Graduation - 1 Year On
by Julie Bhosale

A year ago today I officially graduated from my Doctoral thesis. A four and a half year undertaking during which I gave birth to my two beautiful boys and also had another pregnancy which we lost. This photograph which my friend Kerry took captures the essence of the day. I have not shared this photo before. It was a moment which I dreamed of and visualised thousands of times during that period.
Th...

Product Review - ecostore Detangler
by Julie Bhosale

Nourishment for your body is not just with food. Our skin is our largest organ – what we put on this (and our hair) does really matter. Our skin is very permeable so it absorbs a large percentage of what we put on it. For this reason, I have always used
ecostore products, especially the baby range with my boys. The ecostore is a New Zealand based company which began here in 1993 and only uses...

Preparing for a Tour of a Lifetime
by Julie Bhosale

August the 26
th 2017 in Auckland marks the official kick-off to our massive 10:20 starting solids tour. It has been months of work behind the scenes – but we are pumped with that mixture of excitement and nervousness.
Ages back… when I was writing my book…my husband and I were talking about the tours and what cities to go to. I wanted to reach as many people as possible so we decided just go for it...
