Healthy Homemade Chocolates

Valentines Day is coming up! I know that it is super commercialised now but hey in the busyness of life, especially with children, it does not hurt to have a decent excuse to put some time into those that you love, especially your partner. I actually created this recipe when Smushie was a newborn and I was often up late at night feeding him....little monkey still likes a middle of the night feed! Using only four ingredients and free of refined sugar these little heart chocolates will be a sure winner for a home-made Valentines Day pressie! 2015-02-09 15.10.56 You will need a chocolate mold - for those in New Zealand I found a large variety at Spotlight for approximately $10 (bargain!) 2015-02-09 13.14.30

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of coconut oil

1/2 cup of coco powder

1 tsp of vanilla extract

3-4 Tb of honey

Directions: 1. Melt coconut oil in a saucepan. 2015-02-09 12.13.03 2. Add the other ingredients (coco powder, vanilla extract and honey) mix well together - stir constantly until smooth. 2015-02-09 12.17.28 3. Spoon into molds and place into the fridge for an hour to set. Alternatively just put the tray in the freezer for about 10 minutes. 2015-02-09 12.20.36 4. Pop out and enjoy! (As they are made from coconut oil, in this heat they will melt quickly so keep in the fridge!) 2015-02-09 13.43.33 2015-02-09 13.43.49 Happy Valentines Day everyone!
